When is the deadline to pay my taxes? 

If you owe state or federal income taxes, the deadline to pay your bill is the same as the tax filing deadline. For federal income taxes, that date is generally April 15th. There is no extension for paying your tax bill, but you may request a payment plan if you need more time to pay the full amount. 

When will I get my W-2 Form?  

Your employer should send your W-2 to you no later than January 31, 2019. If you have not received it by February 15th, you’ll need to contact your employer and ask for it. 

When will my 1099-MISC arrive? 

If your employer issues you a 1099-MISC, they must send them to you by January 31, 2019.

When is the federal tax filing deadline?  

The IRS begins accepting returns for tax year 2018 on Jan. 29, 2019. You must file your 2018 federal return or request an extension no later than April 15, 2019, to avoid a tax penalty. 

When is the deadline to file and pay state taxes? 

The due date for filing and paying your state taxes varies by state. Check your state’s Department of Revenue page for more info. 

When is the deadline to file for a federal tax return extension? 

Even if you are filing an extension, you must do it by April 15, 2019. 

When is the extended filing deadline for 2018 tax returns? 

If you file for an extension in April, your 2018 tax return is due no later than October 15, 2019.  

When do I have to file an amended return for tax year 2018? 

You have 3 years from the original due date to file an amended return, which would be April 15, 2022, for 2019 returns. Read more about filing an amended return here.

When is the last day to contribute to a 401K? 

Contribute to your 401k by December 31, 2018, to be able to write it off on your 2019 tax return.

When is the deadline to make 2018 IRA contributions? 

Traditional and Roth IRAs must be opened by April 15th, 2019 for contributions to apply on your 2018 tax return. The deadline for making contributions is also April 15th.   

When is open enrollment for Marketplace Insurance? 

If you need to enroll in a health insurance plan through the Marketplace, make sure to do it between the dates of November 1, 2018 – December 15, 2018. When do I need to report my tip income each month? 

Report your tip income on the 10th of every month. For example, if you make $100 in tips in January, you must report this by February 10th. 

What are the 2019 due dates for estimated tax payments? 

2018 Estimated 4th Quarter Tax Payment Due: January 15, 2019

2019 Estimated 1st Quarter Tax Payment Due: April 15, 2019

2019 Estimated 2nd Quarter Tax Payment Due: June 17, 2019

2019 Estimated 3rd Quarter Tax Payment Due: September 16, 2019
